Khampatai “Eric” Southivongnorat was born in Laos and spent his early childhood in refugee camps in Thailand and the Philippines. These formative experiences instilled in him a profound understanding of displacement, resilience, and the difficult journey faced by individuals seeking safety, stability, and opportunity. After resettling in the United States, Eric transformed his lived experience into a lifelong commitment to advocating for others navigating the same immigration system that once shaped his own life.
Eric broke generational barriers as the first in his family to graduate from college, achieving a double major in Political Science and Spanish at Pepperdine University. His postgraduate academic and professional development continued through numerous programs, including an internship on Capitol Hill with the U.S. House of Representatives, Pepperdine Fully Employed MBA Program, Paralegal Studies at Boston University, immigration law coursework at the California Institute of Legal Studies, and USCIS citizenship educational training. Most recently, Eric completed Villanova University’s Immigration Studies Training for Advocates (VIISTA), an intensive program that strengthened his expertise in global migration, cross-cultural communication, and immigration legal advocacy.
Today, Eric serves as CEO and President of Docs Direct USA in Los Angeles, where he holds multiple professional key roles, including a Registered & Bonded Immigration Consultant, Legal Document Assistant, Certified Signing Agent, and Certified Fingerprint Roller, providing services in the U.S.A. and internationally.
Fluent in English, Spanish, Lao, and Thai, Eric bridges diverse communities with empathy and authenticity. His journey from refugee camps to immigration advocate continues to inspire his mission: to help families find stability, reunite with loved ones, and build new beginnings with a desire for a better future.
